Linda Smith RIP
If there was a list of Radio 4 people who should be immortal, she'd be on there. Along with Humphrey Littleton.
It feels so wrong. Like a bizarro Mark Thompson cutback. Why couldn't we have lost Quote Unquote instead?

Really sad news, this – Linda Smith was one of the very best contestants from Just a Minute and The News Quiz, and her Brief History of Timewasting was pretty sublime. More, though, she was both far funnier and far wittier than many, many comedians who’ve gone on to enjoy much greater commercial success than she enjoyed.
It was sad news indeed, although I feel your suggestion at swappinghere death for the demise of Quaote unquote falls down whne you realise that iot would have been mpossible to find five minutes worth of stuff for a tribute.
